Game One Done!

Oh, that was a fine one! Jason Schmidt was overpowering and got the complete game shutout 2-0. He only allowed 3 hits and no walks.
Wow! We are off to a great start now.

Play Playoff Ball!

OK, Gaints vs the Marlins next Tuesday. This seems like a good for SF but I won't be cocky. If they make it too the championship, it seems like fate that they would play the Cubs and Dusty Baker. That would be extra excitement and drama with a big dose of nerve wracking!
Let's go!

The Giants are tuning up nicely for the playoffs by taking 2 out of 3 from the Dodgers and setting them back for their try to get in as a wildcard team. Tonite, they are off on a roll with an exciting 6-3 win over the Astros who are also in the hunt for a playoff slot. The next two days, they have their best starters going against the Astros in playoff like situations. Keep it going guys and stay sharp!

Playoffs Soon!

OK, the Giants made it look easy winning the Western pennant. They are the playoffs again and hoping to do even better than last year.
Now they have to stay sharp as they wait to see who they play. If they keep winning they could have home field advantage until the World Series. Lucky for them they finish playing against teams that really want to win.
Go the Giants!

A Walk Works Too!

It took 11 innings to get there but walking the bases loaded and then walking in the winning run worked just fine. The magic number is also 11 now.

The Thrill is Back!

Will Clark still looks good in a Giants uniform, even if it is only for a hitting clinic now.
It brings back memories of a young team rebuilding and some glory days in the pennant chases and playoffs. I'm looking beyond that for this year, but they are good memories.
No game today and the magic number is 12.

Barry Bonds comes back from the hospital and then wins another game for Giants in the 9th inning. MVP type year again in the midst of personal tragedy. His career and life make for an amazing story and each of the past few seasons need their own chapter...

OK, this is going to be the place that I ramble about baseball. This has been an amazing season for following the Giants after they went through major personnel changes and have still led the division all year. Things have gone to a higher level recently with the loss of one of my favorite ex-players, Bobby Bonds. He was a player that could do it all and did but never at the level of Willie Mays. He was probably the first player that I followed for an entire career. Willie Mays will always be my favorite player and I actually met him once and shook his hand with a world series ring attached!

I got to watch Willie and Bobby play together and now Barry Bonds carries that torch and is having an amazing year in the midst of losing his dad and coach. The last two weeks have been unreal. He has had game winning homes at least 3 times after returning from his father's death bed..... Then spent time in the hospital last nite due to exhaustion. He's back in the lineup today as they try to beat Arizona one more time...

OK, that sets the stage for what's on my mind about baseball. It's the first of September and some close races (not the Giants) remain. PLAY BALL!!
