Been There Before

Well, game two with the dodgers seemed very familar to game six of the world series. The Giants played solid and lead the whole way taking a 3-0 lead into the eighth inning. Then, relief pitching and defense let them down. You could feel it coming like a train wreck but kept thinking they might just avoid it. Even in the bottom of the ninth still up 3-2 it seemed like a double play could save the day with bases loaded. Instead, one big hit and the final score, and any chance they had of taking the division flew away. One game left and they now trail the wild card leading astros by a game. It's going to take quite a combination of events to get the Giants into the playoffs this year.

At Least Three More To Go

So the Giants are in LA for the last series of the season. They are three games behind the first place (ugh) dodgers and tied for the wild card position that would also get them into the playoffs. Of course I'd like to see them sweep the dodgers right out of first and go as far in the playoffs as possible. They really didn't seem to have much of a chance and if they do get in they may not go far this year. Still, you never know and some wild card teams have been known to win the World Series that way.

Any way you look at it, this is good baseball. The problem is as I know too well, is that it can come crashing to an end far sooner and faster than you are ready for it to do so.

We'll see soon. For now, "Play Ball!"
